Spring is coming

ok, so seen as though this is my first ever blog post I should probably introduce myself, My names Finlaye and I’m a college student from Yorkshire in the UK, I guess I created this blog as a way to kind of relieve stress and write down my thoughts about things; don’t worry it won’t be all doom and gloom haha!

So to start off I though I’d write about a topic that I think everyone will be looking forward to, SPRING! I must admit I feel as though this winter has gone on forever, especially with how cold its been recently but finally spring is just around the corner, not only does this mean that the days may finally be getting warmer (not that i’m expecting anything too drastic, I mean, I do live in England) but it also means that there will be all sorts of new inspiration for my new art and textiles work, Im pretty sure I spotted some shoots starting to pop up the other day while I was walking back to my car. I honestly can’t explain how excited I am to be finally starting a new set of projects though and putting my previous ones to one side for a while is a bit of a relief, it feels like a breath of fresh air, even though i’m obviously aware that theres going to be a lot of hard work involved, even more so by the fact that I’ve got 10 weeks to complete 2 sketch books before exams start, it’ll definitely be an experience I can’t tell you that for sure. however i’m optimistic and I can’t deny that the topic we’ve been given ‘environment’ is definitely my forte.

wish me luck. x

p.s.                                                                                                                                                                                               at the top are are some images of previous pieces of work I’ve created.

  1. Your work is so beautiful! I would love to read more about your process, and about your plans for these images — I can see them as the central image on a screen-printed dress. If you look up the firm Miriam Ocariz or the book Fashion Print Design by Angel Fernandez you can see what I mean. But possibly, since you are a student, you may know way more about this than I do!
I am looking forward to seeing more of your work!

    1. Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it, I’ve recently been looking at printed textiles and was thinking of going down that route for my exam piece so I’ll definitely be having a look at your suggestions!
